I see what you are doing here Ben. I tried to ignore the fact that you are playing Tony Mendez, a plum role that could have gone to any number of Latino actors. But I won’t play the “essentialist” card because what you are doing is not a game and this elitistacademic don’t play. I’m busy. I mean ridiculously busy, like clone 10 of me and they would still be overworked busy, so you know I have to be mad to take a few minutes of valuable down time, when I could be window-shopping on eBay, to fuss at your Boston ass.
Did you really just talk about Mexico in the 80s as “undiscovered”? Don’t go all Columbus-John-Dunbar-Man-Called-Horse on me SeƱor Affleck. I am not blinded by your Cuban-inflected Spanish. Just because you bummed around Mexico, rented hammocks for a dollar, and slept on the playa does not make you down. It makes you a tourist. That is all.
Oh, and by the way, Perks of Being a Wallflower was so not what I needed it to be.
